Micro-vascular reconstruction of complex post traumatic ankle and foot defects with free anterolateral thigh flap: single centre experience

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Ankle and foot reconstruction is challenging for plastic surgeon due to paucity of local soft tissue poor blood supply. Anterolateral thigh (ALT) free flap become popular reconstructive option where microsurgical expertise available. Methods: Retrospective study 26 patients complex post traumatic ankle defect underwent anterolateral during 2 years duration. Results: ALT provides satisfactory with only 8% loss in our minimal donor site morbidity. Flap thinning required 19% on long term adequate shoe fitting. Conclusions: provide like replacement supple skin cover subsequent surgeries if required.

Dual Vascular Free Anterolateral Thigh Flap

BACKGROUND The optimum number of microvascular anastomoses for safe free tissue transfer is controversial. Although the case for 2 venous anastomoses versus 1 anastomosis has been argued, the use of an additional arterial anastomosis has not been examined in detail. METHODS Twelve patients who underwent 2 arterial anastomoses for a free flap transfer were identified retrospectively from the m...

Extended Anterolateral Thigh Flaps for Reconstruction of Extensive Defects of the Foot and Ankle

The anterolateral thigh flap has been used for coverage of defects in the foot and ankle for years. Conventional extended anterolateral thigh flaps do not undergo thinning procedures, which limit their application. Here, a clinical series of 24 patients is reported in which extended anterolateral thigh flaps were used for posttraumatic foot and ankle reconstruction. Of the 24 flaps, 14 were sim...

Versatility of the Free Anterolateral Thigh Flap in the Reconstruction of Large Defects of the Weight-Bearing Foot: A Single-Center Experience with 20 Consecutive Cases.

Background Reconstruction of the weight-bearing surface of the foot represents a challenging task. With very little scope to borrow glabrous tissue from adjacent areas means that achieving a "like for like" reconstruction is rarely possible. In this setting, alternative approaches need to be considered. In this article we present our experience with various differing designs of the anterolatera...

Functional assessment: Free thin anterolateral thigh flap versus free radial forearm reconstruction for hemiglossectomy defects

BACKGROUND To compare free thin anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap with free radial forearm (FRF) flap in the reconstruction of hemiglossectomy defects, and to introduce our methods and experience in the tongue reconstruction with free thin ALT flap. MATERIAL AND METHODS The clinicopathologic data of 46 tongue carcinoma cases hospitalized from December 2009 to April 2014 were obtained from Nangji...

Voice outcomes following reconstruction of laryngopharyngectomy defects using the radial forearm free flap and the anterolateral thigh free flap.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS Patients undergoing laryngopharyngectomy with extensive pharyngeal mucosal resection or those failing chemoradiation protocols are commonly reconstructed using free tissue transfer. Radial forearm free flaps (RFFFs) and anterolateral thigh free flaps (ALTs) are two of the most commonly used free flaps for laryngopharyngectomy reconstruction. It has been suggested that alar...
